The Charlotte Regional Realtor® Association named Pat Riley the 2011 Realtor® of the Year at the Association/Carolina Multiple Listing Services, Inc. (CMLS) Holiday Awards Luncheon & Annual Meeting Dec. 9. Riley began his real estate career in 1972 and is the 52nd recipient of the association’s highest honor.
Riley is the president and chief operating officer of the Allen Tate Company.
Pat Riley has been recognized by many as a visionary leader in the real estate industry. A strong community supporter, Riley has served as director and past-chair of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, a trustee for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Community Foundation Board of Trustees and as a member of the Executive Committee of Charlotte Center City Partners. Riley was secretary of the Board of Directors for Leading Real Estate Companies of the World®, and chairman of the Arts & Science Council (ASC) Cultural Vision Plan. He has also held leadership roles with Charlotte Merchants Foundation, CPCC President’s Council, Fight Night for Kids Foundation and Metro Chamber Initiative.
In addition to his community service, Riley is past chairman of the ASC, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Schools Foundation, Greater Charlotte Cultural Trust, Charlotte Regional Partnership, Charlotte Shout, Mercy Hospital Foundation, the Campaign for Cultural Facilities Cabinet and the Workplace Giving Task Force. He also was co-chair of School Bond Campaigns in 1997 and 2002.
Riley is a distinguished recipient of many national, state and local awards, including the Mint Museum Spirit Award, the Old North State Award from the Office of the Governor, Chairman’s Service Award from Leading Real Estate Companies of the World®, Volunteer Fundraising Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and the Mary B. Howell Award.
Riley, a 1973 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, received the Graduate Realtor® Institute designation the same year. In 1979, he received the Certified Residential Specialist certification. He is a real estate broker who began his career with the Allen Tate Company in 1992. Riley now guides all aspects of the 54-year old company. He is married to Robbin Riley and has three children, Brian, Kelly and Taylor; and three grandchildren, Alex, Channing and Ben.
